Cheryl Farrell

Meet Your Speaker

I founded Pop-up Storytelling for Organizations® in 2019 to help employees and group members collaborate better by sharing personal stories. I draw from a story-filled career that includes television personality. I am a Halo AwardTM winner for storytelling and a Moth StorySLAM Champion. I support the PLUS ME Project that provides storytelling guidance to underserved students preparing for college. I have a master’s degree in communications from University of Southern California and bachelor’s degree in economics from University of California, Los Angeles.

My calling is to help others tell their story.

Beyond Icebreakers

Storytelling tells us more than what we can observe. More than a "soft skill,” storytelling is a legitimate business practice. I know the business value of human interaction. I offer a unique approach to using personal stories to increase collaboration when facing change.

The Interactive Experience

A keynote speaker and customized storytelling workshop that addresses leadership and employee interaction while facing change. Sample session title, “Storytelling to Improve Employee Retention.” Sessions typically run 60 to 90 minutes. The setting is informal with opportunities for Q &A throughout the workshop. Handouts are provided. Sessions can be virtual or in-person and are facilitated with confidentiality.

Following a complimentary discovery call, a formal proposal describes the session purpose, agenda, expectations, and audience needs. Pricing is customized and project-based.

The Intensive

A one-day session to address concerns of a target group such as employees who need in-depth support of an organizational change. The customized structure may include a storytelling "show.” A Pop-Up coach helps employees write and present personal stories to colleagues in a staged setting. Leaders provide a theme for a cast member to develop a 5-7 minute non-fiction story about times facing change. A hosted program for employees to deliver inspirational or informative stories may be used as a singular event or a recurring series. Sessions can be virtual or in-person and are facilitated with confidentiality.

Speaking

My storytelling sessions blend the inspiration from keynote speeches with interactive learning of workshops.

A better way to get teams talking

My storytelling sessions blend the inspiration from keynote speeches with interactive learning of workshops. I promote human connection through strategic and thoughtful conversation and exercises. The process models the way for leaders and team members to experience greater collaboration within their organization, especially during change. Survey responses often include, “Team members are talking to one another differently and better.”
